Terms of Service

The Service

Janus provides behavioral analytics through a JavaScript SDK and REST API. You integrate Janus into your application to collect and visualize event data from your users. We process this data to provide dashboards, event logs, audience breakdowns, and related analytics features.

Accounts

• You must provide a valid email address and verify it before accessing core features (such as API key generation).
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys.
• One account per person. Automated account creation is not permitted.
• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use Janus to collect data in violation of applicable privacy laws or without appropriate user consent
• Attempt to circumvent tier limits, rate limits, or other usage restrictions
• Use the service for illegal purposes or to track individuals without their knowledge where such tracking is unlawful
• Interfere with the service's infrastructure, security, or other users' access
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service (the SDK is open-source; the backend is not)

Service Tiers

Janus offers three tiers with different event caps, retention periods, and rate limits:

• Free — 10,000 events/month, 3-month retention, 100 requests/minute
• Pro — 1,000,000 events/month, 12-month retention, 1,000 requests/minute
• Enterprise — 10,000,000 events/month, unlimited retention, 10,000 requests/minute

Events exceeding your monthly cap will be rejected until the next billing cycle. We reserve the right to modify tier limits with reasonable notice.

Data Ownership

You own your event data. Janus processes it solely to provide the analytics service to you. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising. We do not access your data except as necessary to operate the service, debug issues at your request, or comply with legal obligations.

Availability

We strive to maintain high uptime but do not guarantee specific availability levels. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. Free tier accounts have no service-level guarantees.

Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. You can delete your account, which permanently removes all associated data (projects, API keys, events). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical.

Upon termination, your data is permanently deleted. This action cannot be undone.

Limitation of Liability

Janus is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from your use of the service.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
